PCC Preservation Week

This speech was delivered by Vice President of Instructional Administration Jackie Jacobs to the PCC Board of Trustees:

"The PCC Shatford Library is celebrating American Library Association’s Preservation Week with an exhibit in the Library’s rotunda. It is filled with PCC’s historical heritage in photographs and memorabilia.

The Shatford Library is also a founding member of the Pasadena Digital History Collaboration, which brings together the historical resources of Pasadena City College, Pasadena Public Library and Pasadena Museum of History in a shared, digital repository.

Just recently, representatives from the Huntington Library agreed to join the collaboration with the photograph collections of Harold Parker and J. Allen Hawkins. A first glance of these collections reveal historical photographs of Pasadena High School and PJC which are not in our collections or archives. It is a treasure trove of Pasadena history.

Finally, on April 29th, the Shatford Library and the Retirees Association invite all retirees to an evening event called “Capture the Memories.” The Library will provide dinner, talk about the digital collaboration and database, and then ask retirees to help identify details in historical photographs in the Library’s Archival collections: people, places, and events."
