PDHC Celebrating Preservation Week 2011

The Pasadena Digital History Collaboration (PDHC), a partnership of the Pasadena Public Library, the Pasadena Museum of History and Pasadena City College Shatford Library, will be hosting a week of activities on their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/pasadenadigital). Everyday, new videos and webinars will be posted that teach basic skills for the preservation of materials. To encourage community participation, the PDHC will also post two multiple choice trivia questions each day. Be the first person to answer the questions correctly and be entered to win two tickets to the Huntington Library, Art Collection, and Botanical Gardens!

Huntington Library to partner with PDHC

The PDHC is pleased to announce the newest partner to the collaboration: the Huntington Library! On Tuesday, April 5, Mary Ann Laun, Martha Camacho, and Linda Stewart, from the PDHC, met with Jenny Watts and Mario Einaudi from the Huntington Library to discuss the details. In just a couple of months, a collection of almost 900 photographs from the Harold Parker Collection will be included in the PDHC's database. This is such a vibrant and unique collection and will bring so much character to the PDHC database. PDHC General Meeting Update

• The Huntington will be partering with the PDHC. Almost 900 photographs from the Harold Parker collection will be added. This is great time for our next online exhibit in July since the Huntington’s Parker Collection has many photographs of education in Pasadena. We will work out any issues with subject headings as we go, and Mario has given us permission to add our own local headings as we see appropriate.


• Preservation Week is in full swing at PPL and PCC - exhibits up April 25-29th.


• There are many enhancements from CONTENTdm 6, but even more for 6.1; therefore, we have decided to wait to upgrade everything to 6.1 in June when it is released.


• Still waiting to hear back from the NEH about our grant proposal
