Art Collections Metadata Schema Proposed

A new metadata schema has been chosen for the art collections (primarily housed by the Pasadena Museum of History and the Pasadena Public Library). The schema takes some of the fields from the photograph metadata schema and includes some new fields that art act collection specific.

This is the second schema to have been created for the PDHC, and proved to be a learning experience for all of us involved. We analysed each of the proposed fields (by Michelle Turner at PMH) in detail and deliberated over the semantics of each. This will, no doubt, be of great value for future schemas developed in the future.

The schema will be available on the PDHC Wiki as soon as it is finalized.

PCC: PDHC Wiki Update

I have made some significant additions to the PDHC Wiki. In order to anticipate for diverse media types (for future projects) I have rewritten the main Table of Content page to list media type candidates (Audio, Video, etc). The current media type used by the PDHC (Scanned Photographs) is a link to the what was previously the Table of Content (and provides the metadata schema, project plan information, etc.)

I have also moved the link on the Wiki to this blog to the home page of the wiki, aw well as the PBWorks training tools page link.

Here is a link to the new Table of Content page:

PCC: Best Practices for File Organization

I have posted a visual/conceptual aid in file organization for the maintenance and findability of files for CONTENTdm projects. I welcome any feedback (my email is jpburton@pasadena.edu). I intend to develop the document as time permits.

You can find the document on the Project Plan Information page of the PDHC Wiki under Best Practices for File Organization:

PCC: Wiki Started

A wiki has been started for our collaboration. It will be the hub for our shared knowledge and documents with regard to standards, best practices, and other resources. Future collaborators will find it useful for getting started with their own projects as well.

The wiki's website is: http://pasadenadigital.pbworks.com
